Five Chelsea players who have decided to exit the club in 2025

As Chelsea continues to revamp its squad under manager Maresca, several players are reportedly set to exit the club in the coming transfer windows. Here is a break down of five players that are likely to depart with the Blues.

5.  Ben Chilwell

Chelsea's left back Ben Chilwell could be on the verge of departing Stamford Bridge after a challenging spell with the Blues. The 28 years old England international move to Chelsea from Leicester City on the 26th of August 2020 for £45 million as reported by BBC Sports.

He made his debut in September against Barnsley, providing an assist for Olivier Giroud in the 6-0 victory at stamford bridge during the third round of EFL cup. Chilwell score his first Chelsea UEFA Champions League goal against Porto in April 2021.

Chilwell's time at Chelsea has been plagued by recurring injuries, limiting his availability during different phases of the season. His injury woes has make way for other players in the left back such as Marc Cucurella. Despite displaying quality whenever he is selected, his inability to keep fit and maintain consistency as caused him his spot under different managers.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has made his intention known to Chilwell that he is not part of his plan

"Chilwell is a lovely guy but because of his position he is going to struggle with us." says Maresca

Chilwell has been left out from the squad list on several occasions or being an unused substitute, the former Leicester City left back will be left with no option than to find a new club.

Chelsea's ongoing rebuild under owner Todd Boehly has seen the club offload high-earning players to balance the books. Chilwell among the high earning players with a wage as high as £190,000 per week could see his departure as a means to free up funds and invest in other playres.

However, Ben Chilwell as refused to take a pay cut for this January transfer window. His decision will see him leave at the end of the season when his contract will have ended.

4. Raheem Sterling

England international player Raheem sterling is among the players that are likely to leave Chelsea in 2025 if there is a right buyer for the player.

On July 2022 Sterling signed a five years contract for Chelsea from Manchester City for £47.5 million. He made his debut in August against Everton.

Raheem Sterling has been inconsistent since moving to Chelsea, falling below expectation like during his time at Manchester City when he was consistent.

Last season, the 2023/2024 campaign season Sterling only scored 10 goals in more than 42 appearances across all competitions and his inability to perform in crucial matches as led to his criticism.

Sterling tenure at Chelsea encounter significant challenges leading to his recent loan move to Arsenal for the 2024-2025 season under manager Maresca. The coach spoke to Sterling informing him that he will struggle to get into his squad.

Raheem sterling number 7 jersey was given to new signing Pedro Neto. Sterling requested for a permanent departure but was allowed to move to Chelsea's rival Arsenal on a full season loan with Chelsea agreeing to cover part of his wages.

Sterling move to Arsenal in August and made his debut in September against Bolton Wanderers scoring one goal in the 5-1 victory in the third round of EFL Cup.

3. Carney Chukwuemeka

Chelsea attacking midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is among the players that are likely to leave the club at the end of this season.

The 21 years old former Aston Villa player is out-of-favour from Enzo Maresca's plan and will have to find another club to have a playing time and rebuild his confidence.

Chukwuemeka signed a six years deal with Chelsea in 2022 from Aston Villa but Maresca has acknowledge that the young player lack playing time in his team and will have to leave to get more experience. He has struggled to secure a regular spot and Maresca doesn't include him even on the bench in most matches.

Chukwuemeka has attracted top clubs from Serie A and EPL. Reports have it that Serie A  manager Conte want the attacking midfielder to join is squad but Chelsea are considering a loan move for the former Aston Villa player.

Chukwuemeka has scored just two goals for Chelsea in more than 32 appearances since he signed for Chelsea. He is a talented player who need more playing time but unfortunately he can't get a playing time with the current squad of Chelsea.

2. Axel Disasi

Axel Disasi joined Chelsea from AS Monaco for £38.5 million in August, the French professional footballer has been linked with a potential departure from the club.

Despite these rumours, recent reports suggest  Disasi his happy at the club and he's not seeking a transfer away from Stamford Bridge. Despite his lack of regular start for the club he still want to be with Enzo Maresca and help the club to achieve their goals of qualifying for Champions League.

while there have been interest from different  clubs like Juventus and Newcastle United, the current position of the player indicate that he is likely to remain with the club and fight for a regular spot against Colwill and Fofana.

1. Christopher Nkuku

Chelsea forward Christopher Alan Nkuku surprisingly has personally decided to exit Chelsea. The French international player joined Chelsea in July 2023 for a fee reportedly in the region of £52 million, but was due to undergo a surgery in his knee which he suffered during the pre-season tour and that left him on the sideline till December 2023 when he made his debut against Newcastle United in the quarter final match of the EFL, he scored during the penalty shoot-out that saw Chelsea win the match and proceeded to the next stage.

Nkuku is well known for his dribbling skills and pace, this made him won the Bundesliga  player of the year in 2022.

Information received from sources close to the player suggest that his decision was due to lack of playing time and clarity from manager Enzo Maresca. Maresca has chosen Nickolas Jackson ahead of Nkuku and this has made the French attacker to want to part ways with the club.

However, Nkuku's next destination his unknown, reports suggest that he might return back to Germany or a move to Spain. Many top clubs such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Arsenal, and PSG have previously shown interest in the attacker and might be seeking his service since he has made his intention known publicly.

However, Chelsea will be left to regroup again, due to departures of players which has raised concern about the management recruitment strategy and the ability to integrate new players effectively. In addition, fans are likely to feel disappointed, having to see many high profile talented players leave the club prematurely.
