Mourinho criticizes Cristiano Ronaldo

Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, said that his country, which was crowned champion for the nations of Europe,  won because they "defended well." 

 

Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo has said  he does not like adherence to defensive football.

In an interview with the magazine (Expresso) Portuguese, Mourinho added that the national team has gained toughness in the final thanks to a change in the system to make Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, win the Euro trophy.

He also pointed out that "the technical director (for the Portuguese national team Fernando Santos) decided that Portugal plays actually Two-Line of four, taking Cristiano Ronald in a more centre position in an attempt to make the defensive missions a better one."

He explained Mourinho, who coached Cristiano in Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, that the system played by Portugal in the "Euro 2016" focused on the use of defence.

According to the analysis of the Portuguese coach, who is currently the coach of Manchester United, "the five-armor team" won because they defended well.

With regard to the English Premier League in the new season, Mourinho said that Leicester City and Manchester City are two major contender with Manchester United for the title of the Premier League.
