Pep Guardiola sign first player, Ilkay Gundogan
Manchester City have finished the signing of Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund.
The Germany player has penned a four-year contract after Dortmund acknowledged an offer of around £20m from the Premier League club.
Gundogan, 25, is the first signing of the Pep Guardiola period.
"I’m thrilled to have signed for Manchester City," he told the club's official website.
"When I learned of City’s interest my heart was set on coming here and things have moved very quickly.
"I have loved my time with Borussia Dortmund and I would like to thank the club and the supporters for the five very happy years I spent there.
"They gave me a platform to play on and I became a better player because of the belief, patience and trust they showed in me.
"Now I have a new challenge and that is to achieve great things with City. The opportunity to work with a coach like Pep Guardiola is something I am really looking forward to and I am flattered to be the first signing the club has made this summer.
"I can promise the City fans I will give everything to help us win titles both in England and the Champions League. These are exciting times.
"I have my best years ahead of me and I think we can achieve great things together. I can’t wait to begin this new chapter in my career.”
City have been following the playmaker for quite a while and pushed through the arrangement in spite of seeing him endure a genuine knee damage.
Gundogan experienced surgery recently in the wake of discolating a knee top and is required to be out of activity for around four months.
He put in five years at Dortmund, winning the Bundesliga once, three German Cups, and achieving the last of the Champions League amid his time at the Westfalenstadion.
Dortmund were quick to secure Gundogan to another long haul bargain yet he set his heart set on a change to interface up with previous Bayern Munich manager Guardiola.
Having been one of the Bundesliga's most exceptional performers lately, Gundogan will now hope to have a noteworthy effect in the Premier League, where he will come up against his old Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp, who is now in charge for City's opponents Liverpool
