Three reasons why Manchester United should not sale Angel Di Maria

Some very simple numbers prove that letting the £59.7m man depart will come back to haunt Louis van Gaal 

Angel Di Maria appears to be on the verge of moving to Paris Saint-Germain.

Just eleven months ago, Man United fans were salivating over the prospect of their new £59.7m signing tearing Premier League defences to pieces. Now, United can't even locate the most expensive footballer in Britain.

It's been quite a turnaround. In fact, with some big names coming in this summer, many United fans aren't even bothered that the Argentinian is about to leave the club.

The common consensus may be that Di Maria had a poor first season in English football. The numbers say otherwise.

Di Maria created more chances than any other Man United player 

Juan Mata played 33 games, compared to Di Maria's 27 - meaning the Argentinian was creating opportunities more regularly than any other player in the squad.

Di Maria provided TWICE as many assists as any other Man United player 

He directly set up 10 goals - more than Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata put together.
So, while Memphis Depay, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin will all add something to United's current squad, the departure of Di Maria would see Louis van Gaal's men lose their main source of creativity.
