Mesut Ozil
has been flying during Arsenal's pre-season - both on the pitch and now
behind the controls of a helicopter as an impromptu co-pilot.
The
German playmaker scored during the Gunners' 3-0 demolition of Everton -
with Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla also on target - to claim the
Barclays Asia Trophy in Singapore on Saturday.
Ozil
appeared to celebrate his side's success by taking to the air in a
helicopter on Sunday, sharing a picture of him in the cockpit,
accompanied by the caption: 'Flight attendant M1Ö reporting for duty and
assisting the helicopter pilot as good as possible!'.
Having struggled for form and fitness
last season in the wake of Germany''s World Cup victory, Ozil impressed
towards the end of last term - with Arsene Wenger hinting that he will
be handed a starring role as central playmaker for the campaign ahead.
Speaking previously, Wenger said: 'It is a
big season for him because he had a difficult start last year and in
the second part of the season he was very important.
'He
understands the rhythms of English football and he has improved his
defensive attitude. He works hard and offensively he is a top class
player,' he added.
The
FA Cup champions' next pre-season game is against Olympique Lyon back
in the Emirates Cup at their home stadium on Saturday July 25 - although
Ozil is unlikely to be making the journey there in his newfound
transport.
Arsenal
complete their scheduled Emirates Cup fixtures against Wolfsburg before
facing Premier League champions Chelsea in the FA Community Shield at
Wembley on August 2 - with their campaign kicking off against West Ham
seven days later.
