Chelsea eye £20m move for John Stones
Chelsea are set to return with an improved offer for Everton defender John Stones.
The Blues’ initial £20m bid for the England defender was rejected on Friday morning, whilst developing reports suggest the Toffees want at least £30m for the 21-year-old.
Stones, who made 28 appearances for Everton last term in his breakthrough campaign at Goodison Park, also made his England debut last season against Norway back in September.
Premier League champions Chelsea are rumoured to be willing to offer £26m for the English centre-half, plus the number six shirt, previously worn by Oriol Romeu.
The 21 years old signed a five-and-a-half-year deal with Everton on 31 January 2013, for a transfer fee reported to be in the region of £3 million.
John Stones was listed among the nominees for the Golden Boy 2014 Award alongside former Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu and fellow England internationals Calum Chambers, Raheem Sterling and Luke Shaw.
