Arda Turan agreed to join Barcelona
A deal worth an initial €34million has been agreed for Arda Turan to
join Barcelona from Atletico Madrid on a five-year contract, the
European champions have confirmed.
The Turkey international has been linked with a number of Europe's top clubs, but Barcelona announced his capture via their official website on Monday.
However, in an unusual twist, Barca can sell Turan back to Atletico for 10 per cent less than the €34m plus €7m in add-ons they have paid for him up until midnight on July 20 - two days after the club's upcoming presidential election.
Barca confirmed that negotiations for Turan's transfer began "months ago" at the request of coach Luis Enrique and their Technical Committee and they opted to conclude a deal "in order not to miss out on signing the player".
But the treble winners have reserved the right for the club's next board of directors to decide whether or not to keep the player.
"The managing committee understands that the structure of this operation protects the interests of FC Barcelona and will respect the decision of the president that is elected by the members on 18 July," a club statement read.

Barca are currently
under a transfer ban, meaning Turan will be unable to make his debut
until January at the earliest should he remain at Camp Nou.
