AS Roma CEO Italo Zanzi presented the Italian club's latest signing to the media on Monday.

27 year-old Ivory Coast international Seydou Doumbia has joined on a four-and-a-half-year deal from Russian side CSKA Moscow and actually made his debut for Roma on Sunday, a goalless draw at the Stadio Olimpico against Serie A bottom club Parma.

"I hope to be a valuable addition to this team and to put all my talent at Roma's disposal," Doumbia said. "Now I've just played my first match and I hope that in the future I'll be able to meet the expectations of the team and of the supporters."

Doumbia admitted that his debut didn't go that well - the pressure was on second-placed Roma to win in order to close the gap on leaders Juventus, but his new team were unable to break through the worst defence in the Italian league and are now seven points off the pace.

"I think that yesterday's match was a bit difficult," he said. "Our goal was to win in order to gain points on the highest-ranked team (Juventus). I think that I have to work even harder to transform the 'boos' (from the crowd) into applause. This is what I'm planning to do over the coming weeks."

Doumbia, who began his senior career in Japan with Kashiwa Reysol, moved to Switzerland to play for Young Boys in 2008.

CSKA acquired the striker in 2010 and after making 109 appearances and scoring 62 goals in the Russian Premier League, Roma moved at the end of January to bring Doumbia to the Italian capital for Euros 14.5 million, a fee which could rise to Euros 16 million, depending on clauses within his contract.
