Real Madrid faces Atletico Madrid in Copa del Rey

Two days after their 23-game winning streak was ended by Valencia, Real Madrid were back on the training ground and head coach Carlo Ancelotti discussed the upcoming Copa del Rey derby with Atletico Madrid.

There is still a feeling of discomfort around Real Madrid after last Sunday's (4th January) 2-1 loss against Valencia.

Following that surprise result, reports surfaced in the media that Carlo Ancelotti and the rest of the players were upset with Welsh forward Gareth Bale for playing individually and ignoring Kazim Benzema during a goal scoring opportunity.

Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo were visibly upset with Bale at the time.

Adding to this sense of uneasiness is Atletico Madrid fresh attitude to facing their city rivals.

After going 14 years without beating Real Madrid in a derby, Atleti no longer see themselves are victims.

That spell ended when Atletico won the Copa del Rey final at the Bernabeu.

Ever since, Atletico has faced Real Madrid bravely, notching several wins in the process.

Ancelotti said Atletico Madrid are one of the best teams in Europe and his team is aware they have to play at their top to be able to beat them.

The coach was also asked if he was happy about the problems Barcelona is going through, but the technician said he wasn't happy and Luis Enriques team is just going through the normal problems every teams goes through at a certain point of the season.
