Diego Costa is Nasty says Liverpool Coach

Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers said Chelsea forward Diego Costa was Nasty for his tackles on bot Skrtel and  Emre Can during their second leg FA CUP semi final on Tuesday.

"Yeah, he's an outstanding player, an outstanding footballer. He obviously has this edge to him that, I think when you see the TV incidents on the two (players) that he had, with Emre Can - that was poor, I felt. You can easily hurdle over the young player there and he directs his studs right onto his ankle, which could have been nasty. And then the one with Martin Skrtel, again, there's no need to do it. That's the sad thing of it, he's a top class player and he's clever enough to...and the officials don't see it. But it was poor really by him, because he's an outstanding player. Top player and doesn't need to do it." ~ Brendan Rodgers

Branislav Ivanovic's header in the fourth minute of extra-time was enough to send Chelsea to the League Cup final for the first time in seven years with a 2-1 aggregate win over a battling Liverpool side.

After Eden Hazard's penalty was cancelled out by a second half strike from the Reds' Raheem Sterling in the first leg, the second leg remained goalless after 90 minutes.

Both teams had a number of opportunities to turn the tide in their favour during regulation time - Chelsea attempting 19 shots on goal and Liverpool just behind with 16.

As usual, Diego Costa was involved in much of the action.

The Brazil-born Spain international could have been awarded a penalty in the first half after a challenge from Martin Skrtel, but also played part in several altercations with Liverpool players.

In a match marred by nine yellow cards, Costa received a caution along with Steven Gerrard when the two clashed in the second period of extra-time.

In the other semi-final, Sheffield United host Tottenham Hotspur after the London side snatched a narrow 1-0 home win over the League One side in the first leg.
