Breno moves From prison to Sao Paulo to restart his football career

After serving two-and-a-half years in prison for aggravated arson, former Bayern Munich defender Breno joined Brazilian giants Sao Paulo on Thursday (15th January) to restart his football career.

After serving two-thirds of his prison term of three years and nine months for aggravated arson, former Bayern Munich defender Breno joined Brazilian giants Sao Paulo on Thursday.

He took the opportunity to explain to local media what happened in Germany.

Breno admits it was his mistake when he set fire to a rented villa, saying that he "drank and became unconscious", after hearing that he would have knee surgery for a third time.

According to local media, shortly after beginning pre-season at Sao Paulo's training centre, Breno sustained a thigh injury.

He is expected to return for the beginning of Brazilian National League, in April.

Breno's last match was in April 2011, for Bayern Munich against Bayer Leverkusen.
