Wenger clash with Mourinho as Chelsea beat Arsenal
Chelsea defeated Arsenal 2-0 in a feisty London derby in the Premier
League on Sunday (5 October) thanks to goals from Eden Hazard and Diego
Costa.
Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho said He is even more pleased because they played against a good Arsenal (side). He said they played a good game, they gave them a difficult game and they could deal with it without problems, which is fantastic.
Thibault Courtois was injured during the game which make former number one choice to come off the bench to replace the young goal keeper
"I was just worried for the kid, not worried for the game and the performance because I was saying, we have two of the three best goalkeepers in the world. So, when one of them is injured and comes out and the other one comes in, no problem. No change in my heartbeat. So confident that Petr (Cech) will do once more a fantastic job for us." ~ Jose Mourinho,
Managers Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger clashed a few times on the touchline during the game, while both sides could have had players sent off for rash challenges although referee Martin Atkinson did not produce the red card.
(Q: He actually pushed you.) "Forget that, forget that. No problem, no problem. The football pitch is a football pitch, so no problem, no problem with that." (Q: Did the referee warn both of you?) "Yeah, yeah. He did well. (Fourth official) Jonathan Moss did well and (referee Martin) Atkinson did well too. But to be fair, I do so many wrong things in football. Sometimes you lose, emotion and I did so many wrong things. But not this time, because this time I was just in my technical area and it was not my problem. But game over, story over." ~ Jose Mouriho
(Q: Do you regret pushing Mourinho?) "No, what is to regret after that? I wanted to go from A to B, and somebody confronted me in between without any sign of welcome." (Journalists laugh. Q: Where were you heading, where was B?) "B was (Alexis) Sanchez, to see how badly he was injured." (Q: And what did Mourinho say to you?) "Honestly, I don't listen to what he says." ~ Arsene Wenger
After the game, Mourinho played down his spat with Wenger, attributing it to the heat of the battle.
