The Defending champions Real Madrid arrive at Anfield ahead of Liverpool challenge
Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti hailed the depth and flexibility
of his squad as the defending European champions prepare to face
Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday.
Speaking ahead of the two team's UEFA Champions League tie in which Real will be without stars Gareth Bale, Sergio Ramos and Fabio Coentrao, Ancelotti refused to complain about the injury situation.
"The squad is very good and competitive," the Italian said.
"We have the possibility to use players in different positions. That makes it better when we are missing important players. For example James (Rodriguez) played in (Gareth) Bale's position on Saturday and played very well. It helps us a lot to have this and players like Isco who can play out wide on the left. It is a really big advantage to have a squad like this."
Real Madrid are returning to the scene of their 4-0 humiliation by Liverpool back in 2009.
Both team's fortunes and squads have changed a lot since then but with the likes of Bale out, the Spanish giants are expected to lean on Cristiano Ronaldo for goals.
Ronaldo has already scored an incredible 15 goals in the opening seven games of the Spanish season.
"Cristiano is in a fantastic moment," Ancelotti said.
"He's doing really well. It's impossible to do better. He's really focused and wants to try and do his best because this moment has to continue."
