Roma held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw in Champions League Group E at Etihad Stadium
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini admitted that it wasn't
'City's day' with his counterpart Rudi Garcia praising Francesco Totti,
who scored Roma's goal.
"I think that it's never good to draw at home and just get a point at
home. But also I think that we played against a very strong team. We
didn't play well - especially the first half. Maybe the last 25 minutes.
We started very well and after that we started to lose the ball too
easy. We improved in the second half. But I think that the draw was the
real thing that happened in the 90 minutes with both teams. So we must
continue fighting for the next 12 points. We must play and we will see
which team will qualify for the next round."~Manuel Pellegrini
The home side went ahead through a Sergio Aguero penalty after just four minutes.
Totti, who turned 38 years of age on September 27th, scored a chipped equaliser after 23 minutes.
"When talking about the captain, we can only really say banal things.
But I took great pleasure in his goal. I saw him attack deep at the goal
and then his talent is what made the difference in front of the keeper.
I hope that this is the start of a fantastic story for Roma."~Roma coach Rudi Garcia
