PSG send Barcelona to second in a thrilling Champions League Group F

David Luiz and midfielder Marco Verratti scored their first goals for Paris Saint-Germain in a 3-2 win over Barcelona in a thrilling Champions League Group F encounter on Tuesday, a result that will do much to restore PSG's battered confidence after a difficult start to the season.

Luiz put PSG ahead in the 10th minute, with Lionel Messi equalizing two minutes later.

"I was very happy to be able to help my team with this goal. It is always something special to score a goal as a defender.
I think it's amazing when you can score in a big game against a big club, for my first goal in Paris. I think it was a great night for me, a great night for PSG, and I hope I can score more goals in the future." ~ David Luiz

Midfielder Blaise Matuidi finished off a fine move to give PSG a 3-1 lead in the 54th but Barcelona's Brazilian star Neymar replied in the 56th minute.

"We saw a great Paris tonight, showing solidarity, everyone fought hard, everyone fought the rest of the team, frankly it was a great performance from everyone. We are very proud of what we achieved tonight. Now, this is only a group stage match, we should not get carried away, but I hope this match will be a landmark for us." ~ PSG Midfielder Blaise Matuidi

Poor Barcelona defending allowed Verratti - one of the smallest players on the pitch - to drift in unmarked to head PSG ahead again in the 26th minute.

Barcelona almost equalised in the 85th minute when Munir El Haddadi struck the base of the post with a stinging shot from outside the penalty area and Sandro Ramirez dragged his shot wide in the closing seconds.

"We did everything we could, we tried to attack and defend, but we lost. It is never enjoyable, but it happens." ~ Neymar
