Poland coach Adam Nawalka said his side got a bit of luck to pull down the world Champion Germany during Euro 2016 qualifying Group D match in Warsaw
"Obviously our plan for today was to win the game and we have achieved that. It's not an easy task to play your best football against world champions. Therefore our tactics prepared for today were very precise and we completed it. Of course when you play with world champions you need a bit of luck, but my players were very determined today and they deserve a lot of respect for that." ~ Poland coach Adam Nawalka
Poland Forward Robert Lewandowski said when they started the game they game the Germans so much respect considering the fact that the are the world champion.
"It's true that during the very first minutes of the game we had too much respect for Germans. But later on I think we realised that it can be our day. We made a historic result for Polish football today. We know that, but from now on we have to concentrate on Tuesday's match against Scotland." ~ Robert Lewandowski
Germany team manager Oliver Bierhoff believe that his boys were the better side and they failed to convert their chances during the game.
"Of course we hoped to do better. It was a great atmosphere here in Warsaw. I think we were a better team, we had a lot of possibilities to score, but Poland played very well, very disciplined. They waited for their chance and they got it and at the end they were smart enough to bring it to two-zero." ~ Oliver Bierhoff
The qualifying draw took place on 23 February 2014. Poland were drawn in Group D along with Germany, Gibraltar, Georgia, Scotland, and the Republic of Ireland. Qualifying matches start in September 2014.
