France beat Portugal 2-1 euro 2016 Qualifier
Reaction from France and Portugal on Saturday (October 11th) after a 2-1
win for 'Les Bleus' - Karim Benzema and Paul Pogba securing the victory
before substitute Ricardo Quaresma scored a penalty consolation for the
Portuguese.
Portugal midfielder Nani said the game was a very difficult one for the Portuguese but they played their best and their best never result to a win.
"It was difficult during the first minutes. It was a hard game. But I think that after 20 minutes we were very well. We got ourselves opportunities, we played our football. We didn't manage to score during the first half, but we did in the second half." ~ Nani
Former Chelsea and Real Madrid Defender Ricardo Carvalho believe his side lost to France will affect their confidence in their campaign he also said their is a positive results for them in the game and that is the behaviour and reaction of his team mate that is the only thing they can take home.
"We lost the first qualifier game. Then we had this game, we had some changes, we started the game, but didn't start it well and it doesn't help for the confidence of the players. But I think we gave a good response afterwards and in the end I think we can be happy, not because of the defeat but because of our behaviour and because of the reaction we had after the first few minutes." ~ Portugal defender Ricardo Carvalho
France Forward Karim Benzema said he is very happy not only because they have won but also because he scored during the game.
"To me stats are just talk. As I say every time, I remain focused and play my games. Obviously strikers are expected to score but, as I said, if tonight I hadn't touched the ball but I had scored anyway, I wouldn't have been happy with my game. I am happy with my game tonight because I had the ball a lot of times." ~ Karim Benzema
France Striker Steve Mandala said that his side were very strong in defense and they make use of their opportunities during the game, Mandala said they played against a great team which make the game very difficult one but he is happy at last with a 3 point.
