Bayern Munich get set to take on Roma

Bayern Munich get set to take on Roma in their UEFA Champions League Group E clash, which kicks off in Rome on Tuesday night (October 21).

Bayern Munich are hoping to pull of an 'Italian job' of their own as they head to Rome for their UEFA Champions League group E match on Tuesday.
The German champions will be hoping to 'smash and grab' three points against I Lupi ("The Wolves") of Roma to keep pace at the top of what is a closely matched group.

Pep Guardiola's side head into the match at the top of the table, two points clear of the Serie A side, who have a win and a draw from their first two outings in the campaign.

Bayern are also unbeaten in the campaign so far and will be hoping to maintain that enviable record.

Bayern have struggled for goals in their opening matches of this competition, though, winning their ties against Manchester City and CSKA Moscow 1-0.

However there are no such issues domestically for the mighty Bavarians.

Bundesliga front-runners Bayern showed no mercy in their 6-0 demolition of bottom side Bremen 6-0 on Saturday (October 18), thanks to braces by Philipp Lahm and Mario Goetze.

Xabi Alonso and Thomas Mueller also got their names also on the scoresheets against the hapless visitors from the north.

Franck Ribery could be in line for a return to the starting XI, having played the final half an hour against Bremen.

Pepe Reina is unlikely to travel with the team as he continues his recovery from a calf injury, while Thiago Alcantara remains sidelined after suffering a new ankle ligament tear in training earlier this week.
