Southampton remain second in the Epl table after beating Harry Redknapp side
Southampton stayed second in the English Premier League after beating
visiting Queens Park Rangers 2-1 on Saturday (27 September).
It was Southampton fourth win from six matches and kept them three points shy of league leaders Chelsea.
Southampton Manager Ronald Koeman said the game was a tough one for them.
" You'd like more an easy one, an easy win, but we knew before the game that it would be tough today." Southampton Manager Ronald Koeman.
Southampton Manager dedicated the win to his player he said the win means a lot to the players because they have work hard to attain such result.
"The credit to the players because this was a (hard) working, winning game and if you can bring that, show that character after the win (in the League Cup) of last Tuesday, for me as a manager that means a lot for them, it means a lot for the spirit and ambition of this squad, what they showed today." Ronald Koeman, Southampton manager
Following a goalless first half, Southampton finally scored in the 54th minute when Sadio Mane's back-heel sent on-loan defender Ryan Bertrand through on goal to blast home under QPR goalkeeper Rob Green.
Charlie Austin levelled for QPR 12 minutes later.
But QPR's joy lasted only two minutes, as striker Graziano Pelle announced his presence with the winner.
QPR Manager Harry Redknapp said the two team played very well and Southampton both goals were fantastic.
"Well, it was a fantastic finish, wasn't it? There wasn't a lot that we could do about that goal to be fair, they were both good, excellent goals. Charlie Austin's was a great goal, and then the goal from their big centre forward was fantastic technique, it was very difficult. We could pick the holes in every goal conceded and you wouldn't have any goals. It was a great technique and a great finish." QPR Manager Harry Redknapp
