Heerenveen moved to within a point of Dutch league leaders PSV Eindhoven after a 1-0 win on Sunday (28th September).
Daley Sinkgraven had the games first noteworthy chance in the 8th minute, he turned neatly in the box, only to shoot straight at Jeroen Zoet.
A neat attacking move created space for Florian Josefzoon to shoot on goal in the 27th minute, but the PSV striker pulled his shot wide.
Six minutes later Josefzoon was brought down by Stefano Marzo as he charged in on goal and the defender received a straight red card.
Replays showed it was more of a tangle of legs, but Marzo was the last man.
PSV were reduced to ten men in the 68th minute, Joshua Brenet was given his marching orders for a foul on Mark Uth.
Ten minutes later Heerenveen scored the winner through Sinkgraven as it finished 1-0.
The victory moved them up to fourth, just a point behind PSV, Ajax and PEC Zwolle - who are level on points at the top of the table.
