Chelsea remain at the top of premiership table after beating Aston Villa
Chelsea VS Aston Villa |
Jose Mourinho said Chesea was under control of the game through out and he never got afraid.
"I think everything was under control, the team was very solid, played very well, kept control of the game all the time even when the (score) was 1-0. I don't remember feeling fear, or scared, not comfortable. I think the team always gave everyone the feeling that everything was under control. The second and the third goal obviously killed everything but I think overall it was a very good performance."
Diego Costa |
"We go match after match. The next one for the Premier League is Arsenal. We have a lead of I think three points over Southampton, which gives us a guarantee that in the next weekends we will still be top of the league. Is this very, very important? It's not crucial because it's too early, but it's a little bit of space that gives you the feeling that you are top of the league. It's good to be here."
Aston Villa Manager Paul Lambert said his boyz lost so many chances that could have change the game.
"I thought we started the second half really well. Fabian Delph did great for his chance. When you come to a place like this, when you get a chance you've got to score. And with Nathan Baker's header, Fabian's couple of shots and Aly Cissokho at the back post. When you come to a place like this you've got to score. Because you know that they're - in my own opinion - they'll be close to winning the title and I think they'll be close to winning the Champions League. But I thought we came here and we were well in that game."
Costa headed in the second goal in the 59th minute after Oscar had put Chelsea ahead in the seventh minute at Stamford Bridge.
Brazilian midfielder Willian rounded off the win in the 79th as Chelsea recorded their fifth win to go with the draw at Manchester City, sending them three points clear of Southampton at top of the table with 16 points.
For Villa, it was their second consecutive 3-0 defeat and left them on 10 points.
